How can we contribute to transitioning towards a better adapted and more sustainable society? How can thought and artistic practices creatively expand discourse around these issues and translate thinking into action?
The programme of core exhibitions and satellite projects by established and emerging national and international artists are sited in various historical and cultural locations in Porto.
Ci.CLO offers a programme of workshops interconnected with the core theme of the Bienal.
The Ci.CLO’s Residencies bring together groups of artists, curators and researchers with the aim of producing content derived from artistic research to create pioneering projects developed specifically for the Bienal.
The 2019 Bienal curatorial proposal "Adaptation and Transition" considers the role of artistic practices as a resource to stimulate awareness and develop strategies for sustainability.
The Creative Responses to Sustainability 2019 publication, developed in partnership with the Asia-Europe Foundation, maps Portuguese cultural initiatives committed to social and environmental issues
The Bienal brings together a group of curators, artists, researchers and technicians, who each year join Ci.CLO team.
Ci.CLO BIENAL provides a number of grants for established and emerging artists to develop site-specific projects for the Bienal, and to support networking at national and international levels.
