Ci.CLO

Ci.CLO is an independent organization focusing photography and its interaction with other artistic, environmental and social platforms. Ci.CLO provides a forum for testing and experimentation, and is committed to creativity through artistic residencies, workshops, seminars, publishing books, staging exhibitions with curatorial support, dissemination and debate. Ci.CLO has undertaken projects in collaboration with various public and private cultural centres and institutions, designed to support artists to develop research frameworks and processes. CiCLO promotes networking between artists and cultural organizations, and fosters circulation of artists and projects through establishing opportunities and partnerships with national and international arts agencies.

Ci.CLO activities organized since 2015 include:

Laboratory of Creation 2015/17, a two year project with exhibitions in various museums and art centres in Portugal and abroad, namely Fotofestival in Poland and School of Visual Arts in New York.

A portfolio reading programme, carried out in collaboration with PhotoEspaƱa and FundaciĆ³n Ankaria, with three Portuguese photographers receiving a grant to participate in the week of the PHE Discoveries in Madrid, 2016.

A series of debates and workshops in connection with the exhibition "Eyes Wide Open 100 years of Leica photography" organized in conjunction with Porto City Hall, 2016.

[ESCAPE] Environmental Changes Ecological Emergency, a coproduction with the Triennial of Photography, Hamburg, 2018.

Ci.CLO Bienal Fotografia do Porto, a coproduction with Porto City Hall, 2019 and 2021.
